Running education for fourth- and fifth-grade students
Have you heard about Running is Elementary (RIE)? The brainchild of Horizon Physical Education Teacher and 2009 P-H-M Teacher of the Year Cindy Batalis, RIE was created to engage fourth- and fifth-grade students in all 11 P-H-M elementary schools in a month long after school running club culminating in a race in May.
In its third year, the running club continues to grow in popularity with 581 students participating this year; over one third of the fourth and fifth graders in the school system.
