Innovative Teaching Grants

“Grants allow our teachers to dream”

P-H-M Education Foundation is pleased to announce its 2011 Fall Grant recipients. A total of $9,790 was given to ten P-H-M teachers and staff to support classroom and corporation-wide initiatives. More than 10,600 P-H-M students will be impacted by the funded programs.

“Our grant cycle is an exciting time for P-H-M Education Foundation,” said Mari Linn Wise, executive director. “Providing these grants to P-H-M teachers and staff fulfill our mission of supporting excellence in education.”

A committee of seven P-H-M Education Foundation board members and non board members reviewed 16 applications. The recipients and grant amounts include:

  • iPad 2 for the Music Classroom – Teachers Jennifer Blanton and Jon West – Horizon Middle School and Madison Elementary School. $1,476
  • Learning Curriculum Through Songs – Teacher Diane Zuber – Elsie Rogers Elementary School. $695.95
  • Novel Studies for High Achieving Students – Teacher Kelly Fairbotham – Elsie Rogers Elementary School. $500
  • The Artist as Writer Extension – Teacher Joy Kroeger – Walt Disney Elementary. $1,500
  • Learning Through Leveled Readers – Teacher Jenni McCarthy – Bittersweet Elementary School. $1,318
  • Meadow’s Edge Reading Hawks – Teacher Kathie Satkoski – Meadow’s Edge Elementary School. $500
  • Northpoint Monarch Waystation and Butterfly Garden – Teacher Christine Stephan – Northpoint Elementary School. $1,000
  • P-H-M Fire Obstacle Course – Staff Member Mike Seger – All P-H-M Elementary students. $500
  • Read to Achieve – Teacher Debi Nehls – Bittersweet Elementary School. $1,500
  • Transit of Venus 2012 – Staff Members Art Klinger and Chuck Beuter – All P-H-M Schools. $800

P-H-M Education Foundation opens its grant applications to all current P-H-M teachers and staff members.
